MORE VIEWS OF "Kneeling Man":
Artist's Lament: This was inspired by a little clay sculpture I did when I was about seven years old which I called "The Praying Man". Although the figure is gaunt and seems somewhat crushed by it all, the final impression doesn't feel "down" to me. The piece can be displayed in two ways - prone or seated on it's haunches. Seated gives a brighter effect but I think he's much stronger when he's flat on his face - the lines are more dramatic.
This is another sculpture I put in what I call the "Gallery of Evil", the place in LA that undersold, lost (?) and damaged artwork from me and others and refused to give out collector's names or let you meet them, as if they were state secrets. I'm not complaining, what the hell, they're outa business now and anyway that's the art game for ya. The funny thing is it's always the worst dealers who are charming and likeable!
